Opening of the World Hearing Center in Kajetany.

On May 10th, 2012, in Kajetany near Warsaw was opened the World Hearing Center.  In the opening took part President of the European Business Club –  Poland Janusz Cieslak with his wife. The Center in Kajetany is the most important unit of the Institute of Physiology and Pathology of Hearing led by Professor Henryk Skarżyński, which carries scientific and clinical activities.

There is more than 12 000 patients admitted annually to the Institute and is performed about 15 000 operating procedures – largest umer of hearing improving surgeries in the world.

So far in Kajetany there was conducted 35 hearing improving operations a day. Thanks to new facility these operations will increase to 50. Almost 100% of operations are planned and carried within one day care. Of particular note is the number of  so far implanted ears –  more than 3 500, which places the Institute at the forefront of the world.

All these elements have been taken into account during the construction and organization from the initiative and designed by Professor Henryk Skarżyński – the new medical facility, testing and deployment. Its structure and activities are related to the Polish opportunities and aspirations in a united Europe.

Already in the first year of its activity at the Center made ​​the largerst ammount of hearing improving surgeries in the world. In addition, a series of new programs were implemented, including i.a.:

  • explore a new common ways of early detection and early intervention in the case of hearing, voice, speech and balance;
  • the implementation in Poland new tools and new methods of diagnosis and treatment in collaboration with several centers in Austria, Australia, Belgium, France, Germany, Switzerland and the USA;
  • dissemination of the original achievements in the international arena for the first time implemented in modern medicine, for among others treatment of partial deafness.

The center is a great showcase of Polish medical thinking in the world and a great promotion of our country.
