A showroom was opened there in 2014 on the second floor of the Museum. \u00a0At the gingerbread bakery dated the beginning of the 20<sup>th<\/sup> century there are, among others, shows on decorating the gingerbread with royal icing. In the first year since opening the Museum was visited by 34 thousand guests, in 2014 nearly 170 thousand, and in 2015 \u2013 over 115 thousand. In 2016 the number of tourists increased by over 131 thousand.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/\/ekb.org.pl\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/muzeum-piernika-fot.-Andrzej-Goinski-3.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[2899]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2902\" src=\"\/\/ekb.org.pl\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/muzeum-piernika-fot.-Andrzej-Goinski-3-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"783\" height=\"521\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ekb.org.pl\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/muzeum-piernika-fot.-Andrzej-Goinski-3-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/ekb.org.pl\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/muzeum-piernika-fot.-Andrzej-Goinski-3-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ekb.org.pl\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/muzeum-piernika-fot.-Andrzej-Goinski-3-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/ekb.org.pl\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/muzeum-piernika-fot.-Andrzej-Goinski-3.jpg 2000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 783px) 100vw, 783px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In 2017 it was 138 thousand. The received awards:<\/p>\n<p>2006 \u2013 Small Business of the \u00a0Year in a competition organized by Citi Bank and Kronenberg Foundation,<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">2008 &#8211; in a competition organised by the Polish Tourist Organization the Museum received the Certificate of the Tourist Product 2008,<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">2012 &#8211; the Museum became one of the Seven New Wonders of the World in a competition organised by National Geographic,<\/p>\n<p>2014 \u2013 the Gold Carriage by the Readers of Dziennik Nowo\u015bci for overall activity,<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">2015 &#8211; the Museum was identified by the American Huffington Post \u2013 the most opinion-forming portal in the world \u2013 as a place worth visiting in 2015,<\/p>\n<p>2015 \u2013 the Quality Certificate of one of the world biggest tourist websites TripAdvisor,<\/p>\n<p>2016 \u2013 Pascal award as one of ten most interesting museums in Poland,<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">2016 \u2013 Tourist Product of the Year 2016 \u2013 the award given during the Polish Tourist Congress by the Ministry of Sport and Tourism and Polish Tourist Organization,<\/p>\n<p>2016 &#8211; nomination to the Gold Certificate of PTO,<\/p>\n<p>2016 &#8211; one of the most unusual places in the world Atlas Obscura,<\/p>\n<p>2016 \u2013 attraction no. 1 in Toru\u0144 according to website TripAdvisor,<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">2017 \u2013 the Living Museum of Gingerbread received the Gold Certificate of the Polish Tourist Organization for the best tourist product \u2013 the most desirable and prestigious award of the tourist industry.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/\/ekb.org.pl\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/795f8-352582.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[2899]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2901\" src=\"\/\/ekb.org.pl\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/795f8-352582.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ekb.org.pl\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/795f8-352582.jpg 640w, https:\/\/ekb.org.pl\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/795f8-352582-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>The Museum develops and promotes Poland, Toru\u0144 and a regional product in the world. <\/strong>The number of guests visiting the museum is still growing. Every year there is a progress in net income, which is invested in development. The number of Polish and foreign tourist offices co-operating with the Museum has also increased. In the first year if its activity there were 20 offices, in 2016 over 400, including offices from the USA, Germany, Japan, Spain, Russia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Belorussia. The owner of the Gingerbread Museum also run the House of Toru\u0144 Legends and Vistula Bunker, which allows to offer tourist package services.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><a href=\"\/\/ekb.org.pl\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Zrzut-ekranu-2016-12-19-14.47.41.png\" rel=\"lightbox[2899]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2903\" src=\"\/\/ekb.org.pl\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Zrzut-ekranu-2016-12-19-14.47.41.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"786\" height=\"510\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ekb.org.pl\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Zrzut-ekranu-2016-12-19-14.47.41.png 786w, https:\/\/ekb.org.pl\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Zrzut-ekranu-2016-12-19-14.47.41-300x195.png 300w, https:\/\/ekb.org.pl\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Zrzut-ekranu-2016-12-19-14.47.41-768x498.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 786px) 100vw, 786px\" \/><\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>A production and sales of gingerbread was started \u2013 the product under its own brand, with registered trademarks and new offers for every tourist segment were introduced. In April 2017 a shop with gingerbreads was opened. In the beginning of its activity there were 9 people employed at the Museum, currently there are 30 (including the disabled).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/\/ekb.org.pl\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/muzeum-piernika-fot.-Andrzej-Goinski-9.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[2899]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2904\" src=\"\/\/ekb.org.pl\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/muzeum-piernika-fot.-Andrzej-Goinski-9-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"783\" height=\"521\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ekb.org.pl\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/muzeum-piernika-fot.-Andrzej-Goinski-9-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/ekb.org.pl\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/muzeum-piernika-fot.-Andrzej-Goinski-9-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ekb.org.pl\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/muzeum-piernika-fot.-Andrzej-Goinski-9-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/ekb.org.pl\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/muzeum-piernika-fot.-Andrzej-Goinski-9.jpg 2000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 783px) 100vw, 783px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Museum is the disabled- friendly. Tickets for children and disabled young people cost 1 PLN. There are shows with audio description \u2013 the whole show is conducted in the way enabling blind people to take part in it and see. The Museum co-operates with <em>Fundacja Nieograniczona im. Bogny Olszewska <\/em>and the foundation<em> Light <\/em>supporting people in a coma<em>. <\/em>It supports Wielka Orkiestra \u015awi\u0105tecznej Pomocy by putting items to auction and by conducting a special show of which the income is donated to that charity action.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Museum tries to use the local suppliers and sub-suppliers. If there is no such possibility, it chooses the Polish ones.
