The Humming Bears [MyHummy] Polish: Szumisie are humming bears created for babies ensuring their restful sleep. They were designed by the team of caring parents who wanted to create the original and unique product ensuring a perfect comfort of sleep for all children. The white noise which they emit helps new-borns to calm down and fall asleep by recreating soothing sounds of their mothers’ womb.
The concept of the humming bears arose over 7 years ago when the co-owner of the producer – Anna Skórzyńska, became a mother. Her son loved to fall asleep with the sound of a hair-dryer. The white noise calmed him during colics and teething. During one of the sleepless nights, when sitting at her son’s bed, she hit on the idea to put the hum of her dryer “inside” the soft teddy-bear which will be a safe companion of her child.
There was, however, a very long way to go from the idea to its implementation. The first version of the Humming Bear was created in 2014. The humming bears in their present form have been available on the market for two years. Initially, they were distributed only online, and at the end of 2015 – they reached shop shelves.
Currently, the Humming Bears are available in over 200 shops throughout Poland. In the beginning of 2016, the firm commenced the export of its humming bears under the English name “my- Hummy” initially to Germany and then, to other European countries. Today the humming bears can also be found in France, Holland, Belgium, Switzerland, Denmark, the UK, Ireland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Iceland and also in Russia. Currently, over 70 percent of the firm’s proceeds originate from export.
The humming bears can be found in hospitals throughout Poland, and they are recommended by doctors, midwives and psychologists. The firm was included in the prestigious list of 100 Innovators in the CEE region. It was also awarded the 10th place in the ranking of the “Most Creative Entities in Business“ by Brief. The humming bears were also appointed by Google as the ambassador of the programme Internet Revolutions.
The humming bears are entirely manufactured in Poland from the approved materials safe for new- -borns. The collection in the firm’s offer includes a few shapes of the humming bears, special nursing pillows, blankets and sets of bedding. The latest achievement in the humming bears business are bears controlled remotely by the mobile application.
The humming bears lull over 100 thousand babies to sleep all over the world.
The PRO FUTURO 2017 FOR THE FUTURE award for the Szumisie (the Humming Bears) Company
was received by owners and associates Anna Skórzyńska and Marcin Gawroński, and was handed
by Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Marek Magierowski, President of the
Chapter of Awards professor Elżbieta Mączyńska and Janusz Cieślak, President of EBC Poland.
